The Ant-Mote™ is designed for simplicity.
Follow these easy, step-by-step instructions to make sure that your product is set up properly.
Step 1:
Make sure that the pole you’re using is dry and free from dirt, oil, or debris.
The Ant-Mote™ relies on the friction between the bushing and the pole to help locate the dish. Starting with a clean surface ensures a tight seal against water seepage and, of course, ants.
NOTE: When installing your ⅝” pole for The Ant-Mote™ and nectar feeder, we strongly recommend using a rubber mallet to drive the pole into the ground at least 10”. Our two-part aluminum pole comes with an end-cap pre-installed which can be damaged if you use something as hard as a hammer.
Step 2:
Press the conical bushing down over the top of the pole to your desired height.
We recommend locating The Ant-Mote™ 12-18” below the top of the pole. Make sure that the small end of the bushing, the top of the cone, is facing up. The bushing is designed to be tight, so sliding it down the pole may take a little effort. If the bushing feels loose, that is normal, it will be tightened in place by the internal cone of The Ant-Mote™ in the next step.
Step 3:
Slide The Ant-Mote™ down onto the pole.
The Ant-Mote™ slips easily over a ⅝” pole and will naturally come to a stop when it encounters the conical bushing.
Step 4:
The Most Important Step
With one hand below the bushing applying upward pressure, use your other hand to press The Ant-Mote™ by the center cone firmly down onto the bushing. This action locks the two pieces together while also locking them both onto the pole.
Step 5 & 6:
Finish installation by placing your desired hummingbird feeder over the top end of the pole, then fill The Ant-Mote™ with water.
Here is a list of compatible hummingbird feeders.
To clean The Ant-Mote™, gently apply upward pressure to the dish in a side-to-side rocking motion in order to break the friction between The Ant-Mote™ and the conical bushing.
